Hang Tag Pricing Guide: What Affects Your Price Per Tag

What drives the base price

A hang tag's starting price is set by three things before any finish is added.

• Paper stock. 250gsm feels flimsy and is rarely used for retail; 350gsm coated art card is the apparel standard; 400–450gsm feels genuinely premium and holds die-cut shapes without bending.
• Print sides. Single-side printing is cheaper than double-side, though double-side (front branding, back barcode/care info) is far more common for retail tags.
• Size. Standard sizes (5×9cm / 2×3.5in) are gang-printed efficiently with other orders. Oversized or unusual shapes use more sheet space per tag.

Price by quantity

This is baseline pricing for 350gsm double-side full-colour printing with matte lamination, rounded corners and hole punching included.

Finishes and add-on costs

Every finish here is billed once per order, not per piece — so a 1,000-tag order with foil stamping pays the same $25 as a 250-tag order with foil stamping. This is why finishes look expensive on small runs and nearly invisible on larger ones.

Strings and attachments

Hang tag prices above do not include the string, cord or pin that attaches the tag to the product — this is priced separately, and usually cheap.

Attachment is free if we thread and knot it for you on orders of 1,000+ tags — otherwise it ships loose with your tags.

Getting an accurate quote fast

• Send your logo and target size upfront. Vague requests ("something nice") delay a quote; a size range and colour direction gets you a number same-day.
• Decide finish before quantity, not after. Foil and die-cut change the base price slightly — better to lock the design, then optimise quantity.
• Ask for the price at two quantities. Most brands are deciding between two numbers (e.g. 500 vs 1,000) — ask for both in one quote to compare instantly.
• Order the sample pack if this is your first order. $29 gets you the actual paper stock and lamination in hand, and the cost is credited toward your bulk order.
